ERRMSG: Error when saving a Text Censor Script: "New name is invalid"

  • MailMarshal Exchange 5.X

Symptoms:

  • Error: '"New name is invalid' when saving a Text Censor Script.

Causes:

The script name contains a comma or semicolon.

Information:

Commas and semicolons are not supported in Text Censor Script names for programmatic reasons.  Many other symbols are available for use in Text Censor Script names including the hyphen, colon, and underscore. 

Newer versions of the MailMarshal products will not allow the unsupported characters to be typed into the Text Censor Script name field.
