HOWTO: How do I prevent messages from being logged at all?

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • MailMarshal (SEG)
  • MailMarshal ECM/MailMarshal Exchange 7.X

Question:

How do I prevent messages from being logged at all?

Procedure:

Due to the architecture of current versions of the products there is no way to completely avoid logging of message information in the database. MailMarshal will log at least some information for all messages it processes.

For confidential data you could prevent a copy of the actual messages from being quarantined or archived in the MailMarshal folders. You can do this by ensuring that these messages do not trigger any rules with copy or move actions. This will not prevent the message Header information from being available in the Mail History or the communication information in the MailMarshal text logs.
