PRB: Password protected WinRAR (.rar) files are deadlettered

Symptoms:

  • Password protected WinRAR (.rar) files are deadlettered during the unpacking process
  • Error: Event - Unpack for B4200a84a0000.000000000001.0001.mml caught exception <Timed out waiting for <unrar x -c- -p- -r -o+ -av- "E:\Program Files\NetIQ\MailMarshal\Unpacking\T3\U2\Spam Quarantine Management.rar" .\> after 30000 millisecs> Msg <B4200a84a0000.000000000001.0001.mml> moved to DeadLetter\Unpacking

Causes:

MailMarshal does not support versions of WinRAR lower than 3.4.

 

Resolution:

Upgrade your WinRAR software to the latest version.
