Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • MailMarshal (SEG)

Symptoms:

Event ID: 2505
Source: MMReceiver
Type: Warning
Description: Relay attempt from <IP address>

Causes:

The MailMarshal Receiver has blocked an unauthorized attempt to relay mail through your mail system, originating from the listed IP address.

More Info:

Relaying is defined as a request to deliver mail to an external recipient (an email address that is not included in MailMarshal's Local Domains).

MailMarshal generally only accepts email relaying requests from the servers defined in Local Domains, and in Anti-Relaying settings. Additional rules and account settings can be configured to allow relaying from specific users or addresses. See the User Guide and Help for information about Relay Tables and Authentication by Account.
