INFO: Prompted for user credentials when accessing the Spam Quarantine Management Console

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • MailMarshal (SEG) Spam Quarantine Management Website
  • MailMarshal ECM/MailMarshal Exchange Quarantine Management Website
  • Internet Explorer

Symptoms:

  • User is prompted for their credentials and domain information when accessing the Quarantine Management Website.

Causes:

  • Internet Explorer recognizes IP addresses or fully qualified domain names entered into the address bar as external sites. IE does not use NTLM authentication to access sites outside of a LAN for security reasons.
  • The MailMarshal website uses NTLM authentication and it may be configured with a fully qualified name.

Resolution:

You can add the website to the list of Intranet sites within Internet Explorer. Follow the steps below to add the SQM/QM Website to this list:

  1. In Internet Explorer, select Tools > Internet Options and select the Security tab.
  2. Click the Local Intranet icon and click Sites.
  3. Click Advanced and add the URL of the website to this zone.
  4. Click Close and OK and OK or Apply.
