Question:

• How do I change the Array Manager port setting for the Admin Console?
• How do I select Forms or Windows authentication for the Admin Console? 

Procedure:

In MailMarshal SMTP 6.5 through 8.X, and MailMarshal Exchange 7.X, if the Admin Console web application is installed on the same server as the Array Manager, the installer prompts for connection information (port and authentication mode). These settings are saved in the IIS web configuration file.

If you want to change these settings after installation, you can edit the settings as follows:

IIS 7.X and above:

Array Manager Port:

1. On the computer where the Admin Console web site is installed, open the IIS Manager.
2. Expand the left pane tree, and select the Admin Console virtual directory. Ensure you are in Features view.
3. In the right pane, double-click Application Settings.
4. Double-click to edit the key ArrayManagerPort.
5. Enter the correct port as configured at the Array Manager, and then click OK. The change is applied immediately and the website will re-start with the new settings.

Authentication Mode:

1. On the computer where the Admin Console web site is installed, open the IIS Manager.
2. Expand the left pane tree, and select the Admin Console virtual directory. Ensure you are in Features view.
3. In the right pane, double-click Authentication.
4. Within the list of authentication options, right-click to enable or disable authentication methods.
   • To use Windows authentication, enable Windows Authentication and disable Forms Authentication.
   • To use Forms authentication, enable Forms Authentication and disable Windows Authentication.
   • Note that only one of these authentication methods can be enabled at a time.
5. The change is applied immediately and the website will re-start with the new settings.

Adding Authentication Modes:

If Windows Authentication is not in the list of authentication types, it is disabled for the server. To enable it:

• Server 2008:

1. Open Server Manager.
2. Expand Roles.
3. Right-click Web Server (IIS) and select Add Role Services.
4. In the Role Services wizard, under Security, select Windows Authentication to enable it.

• Later versions:

1. Open Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off.
2. Scroll down to IIS and expand Security.
3. Select Windows Authentication to enable it.

Notes:

• By default the Admin Console virtual directory is named AdminConsole for SEG, and MEXAdminConsole or ECMAdminConsole (depending on version) for ECM. This name could have been changed during installation.
• If you select Forms authentication, users will be able to enter the server, port, user name, and password each time they connect to the site. This allows one Web Console to manage more than one array. The last used server name, port, and user name (but not the password) are saved for each user with a browser cookie.
• Best security practice for these sites is to install them on an Intranet server and not allow access from Internet locations.
