PRB: Cannot add Marshal Snap-ins to MMC on 64-bit systems

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • MailMarshal (SEG) 7.X and below
  • MailMarshal ECM/MailMarshal Exchange
  • WebMarshal 6.X
  • Windows Server 2008, 64-bit version or above

Symptoms:

  • Installed older MailMarshal or WebMarshal versions on a 64-bit Windows system
  • MMC snap-ins are not available in the Add/Remove Snap-in window of MMC
  • Opening the Console, Configurator, or Reports from the Start menu is successful

Causes:

  • The named versions of these products install as 32 bit applications on the 64-bit Windows platforms. The default 64-bit MMC cannot run 32-bit snap-ins.

Resolution:

To resolve this problem, start MMC using the /32 option. To do this, click Start, click Run, type mmc /32 and then click OK. The Marshal snap-ins will be available for selection.
