Symptoms:

  • Error in the Engine log: ProcessMsg(RunRules) for B00000EED4.00020914.mml caught exception <Exception caught performing directory lookup for <example@exampledomain.net.au> - hr(0x80005000), Unknown error 0x80005000>

Procedure:

NOTE: This error message is not due to MailMarshal Exchange.

Follow the steps below to make the required Registry change to prevent directory lookup errors.

Warning: Using the Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. LevelBlue cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor can be solved. Make sure that you backup your Registry prior to making any changes.

    Exchange\Default\Engine

  2. Add a DWORD called IgnoreADLookupErrors and set the value to 1.
  3. Restart all the MailMarshal Exchange services.
  4. Reprocess the message in the deadletter folder.
