HOWTO: How do I disable Digest Collator?

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • WebMarshal 6.5 and above

Question:

  • How do I disable Digest Collator?

Information:

Digest Collator is the feedback mechanism within the TRACEnet service. It provides feedback to LevelBlue by HTTPS (secure Web posting).

Digest Collator only sends data about URLs that were actually blocked by TRACEnet action. The information Digest Collator returns is anonymous and does not include the identity of your organization or the individuals in your organization who visited the sites.

This feature is enabled by default. LevelBlue recommends you leave it enabled. The information provided helps to update the TRACEnet URL listings. The information is used to improve the software's performance and for no other purpose.

To disable Digest Collator:

  1. Log on to the WebMarshal Array Manager server.
  2. Navigate to the Policy directory within the WebMarshal installation and locate the working policy file(\ArrayManager\Policy\ArrayPolicy.Working.xml).
  3. Edit the file.
  4. Locate the element TRACEnet
  5. Within this node, locate the attribute feedbackEnabled="yes"
  6. Change the value to "no".

Do not add another copy of this element or this attribute. For more information about editing XML documents, see Knowledge Base article Q12705.

  7. Save the file.
  8. Restart the WebMarshal ArrayManger service.
  9. Commit the configuration.
