This article applies to:

• McAfee for Marshal 6.0.3

Symptoms:

• Upgraded to McAfee for Marshal 6.0.3 
• Symptoms fixed by this upgrade continue to occur

Causes:

• When the McAfee for Marshal (MfM) 6.0.3 upgrade is installed while MailMarshal or WebMarshal services are running and scanning items, a required DLL file cannot be upgraded because it is locked.
• The installer does not alert you to this locked file.

Resolution:

The preferred resolution is to download and install McAfee for Marshal 6.0.4, released December 14, 2009.

You can also ensure that McAfee for Marshal 6.0.3 is properly installed by following these steps:

1. Stop the MailMarshal and/or WebMarshal engine services on the affected server and ensure these services are stopped.
2. Run the MfM installer and select Repair. Allow installation to complete.
3. Start the engine services.

Notes:

If you have not yet upgraded MfM, to avoid the issue install McAfee for Marshal 6.0.4.
