INFO: Resetting security permissons

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • WebMarshal 6.X and 7.X

Question:

  • Locked out of WebMarshal Console
  • Deleted all users and groups from WebMarshal Security Tool

Procedure:

If you have mistakenly removed all groups and users from WebMarshal Security using the Security Tool, you will not be able to use any WebMarshal user interfaces including the Security Tool.

You can reset security to the default level by editing a file on the server.

The default setting is for administrators of the Array Manager server to have access.

To reset security:

  1. Log on to the Array Manager server (or standalone WebMarshal server) using an account with administrator permission.
  2. Locate the following file within the WebMarshal installation:
    ...\Array Manager\Policy\ArrayPolicy.Working.xml
  3. For details of install locations, see article Q20952.
  4. Make a backup copy of the file.
  5. Edit the file with a text or XML editor
    • Note: take care when editing the file. For help with editing XML documents, see LevelBlue Knowledgebase article Q12705.
  6. Locate an attribute that begins:
    security="O:BAG:BAD:..."
  7. Remove the entire security attribute.
  8. Save the XML file, and then restart the WebMarshal Array Manager service.
