HOWTO: Copying Connector Agent settings to a new installation

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • MailMarshal SPE
  • Connector Agent

Question:

  • How do I move the Connector Agent to a new server?
  • How do I back up Connector Agent settings?

Procedure:

Connector Agent settings (connectors and groups) are saved in the file agentConfig.xml in the installation path.

To copy the settings to a new server:

  1. Ensure the new server has access to the source LDAP or Active Directory.
  2. Install the Connector Agent on the new server and go through the basic setup (URL, user name, and password).
  3. On both new and old servers server stop the Agent (use the button at the top of the Connector Agent main window).
  4. On the old server navigate to Program Files (x86)\Marshal\ConnectorAgent and copy the file agentConfig.xml
  5. On the new server, paste the file into the same location. Start the Agent.

Notes:

Groups should be synchronized from the new server as scheduled. Verify synchronization on the Agent and also the Customer Console (Connector Agent History).

If Connector Agent History shows "Update Interval Error", stop the Agent and wait for the next scheduled update time before re-enabling it.

To avoid confusion and interval errors, only one copy of the Agent should be enabled at a time.
