HOWTO: Uninstalling MSOLEDBSQL for MailMarshal SQLExpress installation

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • MailMarshal 10.1 or above installation "with SQL Express"
  • Microsoft OLE DB SQL installed
  • Error message: The Microsoft OLE DB SQL Drivers are already installed. Please manually remove them before installing MailMarshal with SQL Express.

Question:

  • Why is it necessary to remove OLE DB drivers?
  • What steps are required when installing the latest SQL Express versions?

Response:

Some versions of the Microsoft SQL Express installer (included in the MailMarshal "with SQL Express" package) check for an exact version of the OLE DB drivers and return an error if the same or a later version is already installed.
  • For installation of SQL Express to succeed, the later versions must be uninstalled.

Procedure:

To resolve this issue, uninstall Microsoft OLE DB Driver 19 from the Windows Control Panel or Installed Apps page. Then rerun the MailMarshal installer.
  • The SQL Express installer and MailMarshal installer will install the required versions of the OLE DB drivers.

Notes:

After installation is complete, you can verify the presence of the Microsoft OLE DB Driver from the Windows Control Panel or Installed Apps page.
