ERRMSG: Error: WebTrends Services Failed to Start - Error 1053.

This article applies to:

  • Firewall Suite 4.X

Symptoms:

  • Error: WebTrends Services Failed to Start - Error 1053.
  • Error occurs when trying to launch Firewall Suite interfaces.

Causes:

Improper Windows NT file permissions will cause Firewall Suite software to fail to start.

When adding a user through the Security tab of a folder property dialog the default permissions in Windows NT 4.0 is Read and the default for Windows 2000 is Read and Execute. This will causeFirewall Suite to fail.

Console applications will hang while loading DLLs.

Information:

Ensure the current user and any user account which the Firewall Suite services are configured to use have at least Read, Write and Execute permissions for the program root and all sub-directories.
