PRB: The Agents panel shows the message, "The agent service on this host has stopped responding"

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • Security Reporting Center 2.0
  • Security Reporting Center 2.1

Symptoms:

  • Error: The agent service on this host has stopped responding.
  • The Agents panel displays the message, "The agent service on this host has stopped responding."

Information:

If the NetIQ Scheduler Agent service stops communicating with the database, either because the Agent service on the host stopped, or the host is powered off, all agent functions stop and the Agents panel displays the following message:

The agent service on this host has stopped responding.

If the host is running, restart the Agent service. If the host is not running, restart the host and the service.

One hour after the NetIQ Scheduler Agent service stops, the host disappears from the list in the Agents panel. The host reappears in the Agents panel when the Agent service restarts.

If you disable an agent using the Agent Settings panel, the agent functions are disabled, but the agent continues to run as a service on the host computer. The NetIQ Scheduler Agent service can only be stopped permanently from the host.
