INFO: What are the LastRecord.txt files in the LeaCache Directory?

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • Firewall Suite

Question:

What are the LastRecord.txt files in the LeaCache Directory?

Information:

The LastRecord.txt files store the location of the last record that the LEA Service downloaded from the binary log file on the Check Point Firewall-1 firewall. Firewall Suite retrieves the records that are produced from the time the profile is made and forward. LastRecord.txt provides the LEA service the ability to patch holes in the local LEA cache due to the service stopping, or if the Firewall Suite reporting machine is restarted.

This process might go as follows:

  • LEA Service gets record 000001 and records its location in the LastRecord.txt file.

  • The Firewall Suite reporting machine goes down after the operator leaves the room.

  • On the following morning, the problem is found, and the system is started again.

  • The LEA service sees the current record number 000999, and the last record it has is number 000001, so it promptly downloads all the records in between.

  • The LEA service resumes normal operations.
