INFO: What is the easiest way to speed up log analysis?

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • Security Reporting Center 2.0x
  • Security Reporting Center 2.1

Question:

What is the easiest way to speed up log analysis?

Symptoms:

  • How do I minimize the resources used when running an analysis?
  • Reports are taking a long time to analyze.
  • Is there a way to minimize how many tasks run at one time?

Information:

In order to speed up the analysis and minimize the resources used you can decrease the Concurrent tasks for agent.  To do this please follow these steps:

  1. Click Expanded Interface to make sure the Expanded interface is showing.
  2. Click Scheduler > Agents.
  3. Click Edit Agent Settings.
  4. Change the Concurrent Tasks for agent from 2 to 1.
  5. Click Save.

When you run a report we should now only analyze one task at a time.  This will reduce the memory consumption and help speed up the reporting process.

Notes:

We HIGHLY recommend that this setting stay at or below two no matter how much resources the computer has.
