Question:

Can the SNMP "location" attribute be modified on 8e6 boxes?

Reply

Can the SNMP "location" attribute be modified on 8e6 boxes?

Some customers would like their SNMP polls to organize their 8e6 boxes by location.  By default, this location will always be "8e6 Technologies."  In order to change this, you will need to open /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf and edit the "syslocation" key.  Once this is done, restart snmpd.  Additionally, the similar changes can be made for the "syscontact" key and likely others as well.
