Question:

Service control Pattern Blocking

Reply

Service control Pattern Blocking

This feature complements our existing suite of pattern filtering (Games, Proxy, Instant Messaging, and Peer-to-Peer).

To enable  pattern filtering, make sure that "Pattern blocking" is turned ON in System > Control > Filter.  Next, make sure that you're blocking the correct categories (Games, Proxy, Instant Messaging, and Peer-to-Peer) in your profile.

(Likewise, if you want to block Web-based Proxies, Instant Messaging, or Peer-to-peer traffic, be sure that you're blocking those categories, respectively).

To determine whether a request got blocked based on URL filtering or by PATTERN, look for the word "pattern" as the categorization method in the Realtime Traffic Log, or in your Real-Time Probe.

e.g.

172.16.5.132,IPGROUP,2008/05/22,13:02:37,GGAMES,1,3,,pattern://69.64.39.200/,pattern://69.64.39.200/
