ERRMSG: Final update status: An unspecified error occurred

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • New Trustwave Web Filter and Security Reporter appliances, and combo boxes.

Symptoms:

  • The patch update log has this "unspecified error" message.

Example:

Wed Apr 21 14:11:02 CDT 2010 (7250) Downloaded files -- Fail
Wed Apr 21 14:11:02 CDT 2010 (7250) Patch Update has completed.
Wed Apr 21 14:11:02 CDT 2010 (7250) Final update status: An unspecified error occurred.

Causes:

  • If this is a brand-new server that came with the software already at the current production version, this error message is normal.  There is nothing in the patch.conf file, so this is normal behavior. This will only occur when there is an empty patch.conf file (which there is currently, since there is no ‘patch’ for this version, just the image itself). Once we release a new patch update, you won’t see these errors any longer.

Resolution:

See above.
