INFO: Web based authentication and IOS 6

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • WF 4.x
  • WFR 2.x, 4.x

Question:

  • I am currently experiencing problems with authenticating via secure web-based authentication when using safari on ios6. Safari from ios5 will authenticate however, when I click on the secure web-based authentication on with a ipad or iphone with safari ios6, the link will not work and it does not go to the next page. Is there any reason why this is happening?

Information:

The new IOS 6 requires the filter to have an SSL certificate the meets the following conditions:

  • A third party certificate.
  • The certificate must not be expired.

If the SSL certificate is a third party certificate and it is expired then IOS 6 on Safari would not accept the certificate. Both conditions need to be met for web bases authentication to work.
