INFO: Additions to Release Notes for Marshal Reporting Console 2.5

Expand / Collapse

This article applies to:

  • Marshal Reporting Console 2.5

Question:

  • What are the Release Notes for Marshal Reporting Console 2.5?

Information:

The Release Notes included with Marshal Reporting Console 2.5 are accurate as of the date of publication. The latest release of Marshal Reporting Console is 2.5.4.1263, released December 5, 2013.

This article provides any additional information generated after that date.

2.5.3 is a minor maintenance release.
2.5.4 adds support for installation on Server 2012 and Server 2012 R2. This release does not include any other changes.

Installation tips

Note: New automated installation of MRC will not complete on Windows XP if the SQL Express 2008 R2 software must be installed. Upgrade from earlier versions still supports Windows XP SP3, but this operating system is not recommended.

If you are encountering issues with product installation, the following Knowledge Base articles may be of interest:

  • Q14156: "The setup has detected that no version of Marshal Reporting Console is installed"
  • Q12205: "Problem connecting to Report Server - The service might not be running or you might not have access to the URL"

SQL Server requirement

For the avoidance of doubt, be aware that when you install MRC 2.5 with the licensed version of SQL Server and SSRS, both SQL Server and SSRS must be installed on the computer where MRC is installed. MRC 2.5 checks for the presence of SQL Server. (Version 2.1 did not perform this check.)

MailMarshal ECM Installation Prerequisite Conflict

If you attempt to install MailMarshal ECM 7.1.1 on a server where MRC 2.5.3 or above is already installed, you will encounter an error due to an issue with detecting the installed Visual C++ 2010 redistributable. This issue has been logged for future action.
